Which are best amongst Internet Security, Anti-Virus, Firewalls, etc.?

I am confused about Internet Security. So please guide me with utmost honesty (Please don’t fool me because I am naive about Internet Security). I am a housewife (who used to once work as a Foxpro Programmer. But later I quit the job and started taking care of my home and family). So although I am a good foxpro programmer (and not entirely naive about using a PC) I don’t know much about internet. Lately, I have started using Internet. Now, I have come to know that viruses, worms, spywares, malaware, adware, etc. can attack my personal computer even if I open my emails. In order to prevent this from happening I should have anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. installed on my personal computer. I have also been advised to install something termed as ‘firewall’. Besides, there are so many products (McAfee Anti-Virus, Norton Anti-Virus, E-SET Safe, Trend Micro, Quick Heal, AVG, Kaspersky, etc.) And if I visit these companies’ websites I see they have multiple products that they are manufacturing. For example, I installed AVG Free for home users. But the company also sells a paid version of that Anti-virus software and also selling something termed AVG Internet Security. Similarly, McAfee sells something termed Security Center. Now, I am all confused. I have several questions:

Question #1: Which is the best Anti-Virus software currently? I am confused about which of these softwares should I buy? For example, should I buy McAfee Anti-Virus or Norton (which one is better? I don’t know and so I can’t make up my mind). Now, McAfee and Norton are just two examples. In reality, in the market place in anti-virus category itself there are several products. So an expert may tell me that I should neither buy McAfee or Norton; but instead choose Kaspersky because it is best anti-virus currenty around. So I feel you should guide me seriously about which is the best Anti-Virus software available as of now.

Question #2: What is Internet Security? For example, several of these companies have their Internet Security Softwares. Now, does that mean that if I buy Internet Security Suite of a company it will give me full protection from Viruses, Spywares, Worms, Trojans, Malaware, Adware and what not and will this Internet Security Suite also install its firewall or whether for a firewall I will have to search for another company? Which is the best Internet Security Suite/Software currently available.

Question #3: What is a firewall? What purpose does it serve? Now, my Windows Vista also has a firewall (that perhaps got installed when my PC came pre-installed with MS Vista Home Basic). Now, is this Vista firewall not enough as a protection? And which is the best firewall software currently?

#1 – You do not need to buy any. There are perfectly good free anti-virus software.

#2 – No. Install the Spyware and Malware programs indicated int he link.

#3 – A firewall blocks ports going in and out of your computer. Basically you are concerned about stuff coming in. The Windows firewall is fairly bad. You may try the one in the link. Please give me guidance.I am very tensed and not getting way.
II have studied till 5th in English medium and after that i had taken admission in Hindi medium till 12Th.My home is outseided so i have no friend group to get learn many things.
I have done B.sc (math and electronics) in 2007 and was preparing for MBA But due to so much fees i am unable to do MBA. I was also not getting loan from bank.
I am interested in any business field, computer also and want to do some creative and new.I not only want to earn money but also want to become expert in any field but i am not getting way in which sector i will go..

Dear Friend, Don’t be tensed!! All I came to know from your story is that you just have a confusion in mind. Someone around you is going ahead in so-&-so field and the similar things are not letting you to chose the exact one…Right? First of all, Don’t be afraid of all such things….Get a paper & write down what u can do (your interests)…Then sort them in ascending as they like you….Try to find what kind of Technical/Non-Technical expertise you should have to carry out that job! Girlfriend choosing between 2 guys?

The Nut-shell: 6 months into our relationship gf started talking to ex and was torn between the 2. Me and other guy are completely opposites in HER "pro’s and con’s" of us. (~ME=Loves being with me, HIM="Cant stand being with him" she says.~)
(~ME=No college and works at IHOP and a retail store, HIM=Going to college, only 2 classes a sem btw, and is a lost prevention manager for a large retail store.~)

Well now its 9 months into relationship and i thought it was over a long time ago but now here we are again, me and her ex. Told me EXACTLY what she said before. "she needs to choose between the 2 of us" and for EXACT same reasons as before…guy she likes, or guy w/ more money she doesn’t . she said its like "logic vs. heart".

Do i roll out? deserve better? is she crazy? is she right? should i give her a chance? I have strong feelings for her but dont want a women who is seemingly choosing A.) Love or B.) Money . I understand she doesnt wanna be broke but damn, i’m not worthless, lol, she actually said i’m really smart, and i really wanna go to college. But seriosuly, she’s willing to be with a guy she says "cant stand, ruins her fun, nothing in commin" because he has a smaller advantage right now to make more money. Materialistic…no thx!

Not like i think its relevant to her "logic vs. heart" but we’ve been together 9 months, her ex 2 years. GIRL= age 21, ME= age 23, EX= age 22.

You don’t sit there and wait to be chosen like a puppy in a shelter.Kick her to the curb and never look back.Always respect yourself and never submit to second best.

Did anybody hire a residential electrician recently? If yes, how did you decide which electrician to trust to? I live in Seattle area and even simple local Google search return 250+ electrical contractors in the radius of 25 miles. This market is oversaturated here. How do I choose?

"Word of mouth" can be a good option. I have a good friend who is an electrician in the Seattle area. He may be too busy. If not I think you would be fortunate to be able to hire him. You can email me with/for more information.

In hiring any contractor you can rely on reputation and how you relate to that particular contractor.

China SEO – Baidu and local China SE optimization?

Although there are vast resources for Google/Yahoo SEO there is little information available in English for optimizing a site for Baidu and the local Chinese search engines.
I would like to know as much as possible, links or personal experiences, about SEO for the Chinese SE market, specifically Baidu. References to Chinese sites will be highly appreciated as well.

What I did notice missing is the application of the social structure. Getting backlinks (especially one-way) from the "upper caste sites" so to speak should play a factor in the rankings, and so should the "who you know" factor.

I would suggest trying to hobnob (be friendly with, talk to, chat with, communicate) with the "elite" in the baidu chain – at least online – and see if you can get any help there.

Find out what it takes to serve the Chinese people the best according to the Government, and use those standards as a guideline.

Other than that, I think you did a really good job on your blog post.
